Premier League Fantrax Waiver Wire — Weekly Picks with Insight
Note: All stats mentioned are listed as values per 90 minutes played from Fotmob
Well another season over and I must admit it’s refreshing to see Arsenal win the league and two promoted sides stay up this season. Not going to lie, a little gutted with how my season ended. Last minute goals cost me last two gameweek and cost me top 3 too. I had average GW score of 117 points, next highest was 109 and my points against on average was 118. When you see the data you just have to accept the fantasy gods decided to punish you I suppose! Hopefully you guys had more luck than me and ended up getting that money.
I have to admit, although my fantasy season ended poorly, my last picks overall turned out alright:
Bernd Leno | (12-13) points vs. Newcastle (H)
Putting faith in Fulham this past weekend paid off, as in form Leno got his clean sheet!
Rating: Man of the Match
Timothy Castagne | (14-17) points vs. Newcastle (H)
Castagne continued his good form at the end of the season with another solid display and taking his average over the last 3 games to 13+ points. He might be a solid option next year for home games. It will be interesting to see how Fulham recruit this summer!
Rating: Man of the Match
Reinildo | (1-5) points vs. Chelsea (H)
No clean sheet for Sunderland or Reinildo, but European football will back at the Stadium of Light next year which I’m sure will create an unforgettable atmosphere. I’ll say this know and maybe it sticks, but with European football next season and second-season syndrome occurring for Sunderland be careful of picking there players.
Rating: Transfer List
Jacob Ramsey | (4-6) points vs. Fulham (A)
Not the output I expected from Ramsey in this game, however if he can have a good pre-season and with a lot of Newcastle players’ futures undetermined I think he could be a great mid-to-late round pick next season.
Rating: On The Bench
Zian Flemming | (12-15) points vs. Wolves (H)
If there is anything to come out of Burnley’s season, it’s Flemming can score goals. I’m sure there will be lots of clubs monitoring him this summer as it’s not easy to score 11 goals in the Premier League, especially in a promoted team that gets relegated.
Rating: Man of the Match
Valentin Castellanos | (14-17) points vs. Leeds (H)
Castellanos once again was there to score with his 6th goal of the season. I think there is a very smart forward here and if he remains in the Premier League next season I would be looking to draft him.
Rating: Man of the Match
Based on this season, here a few stats that covered my picks this season:
Points Distribution

As you can see 53% of recommendations were less than 8 points, which isn’t great. However, since the recommendations were for players with less than 50% ownership I don’t think that’s too bad.
Top 10 Recommendations

Mavropanos is the stand out recommendation this season with Dorgu, Okafor both getting above 30 points too! A total of 16 players recommended got more than 20 points. that’s one recommendation every other game week.
Worse 10 Recommendations

Can’t show the good without the bad right? Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the worst call of the season for me.
Most Recommended

If you followed along all season it comes as no surprise that Bart Verbruggen was my most recommended players. He turned up for me more often that not. Two goalkeepers at the top as well since these positions have the least amount of options. Both goal keepers averaged pretty well overall.
Noah Okafor was recommended 4 times, but only played twice, however when he did he turned up!
If you’re like me you’re already thinking about the draft next season, so look out closer to draft day and I’ll probably have a little something coming out.
Thanks again for reading this season and enjoy the World Cup!
Come on England!
End of Season VAR Review

| Position | Man of the Match | That’s His Job | On the Bench | Transfer Listed | Did Not Play |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| G | 12 | 10 | 6 | 7 | 1 |
| D | 10 | 21 | 17 | 10 | 5 |

| F | 9 | 12 | 13 | 11 | 4 |
| Total | 46 | 59 | 51 | 43 | 12 |
Man of the Match (MOTM): This player was a great pick up, scoring big and carrying your team.
That’s His Job (THJ): As Roy Keane would say “that’s his job’, putting up a decent score with no surprises.
On the Bench (OTB): this player might not have performed super well last week, but might be worth holding on to.
Transfer Listed (TL): This player wasn’t my finest recommendation.
I’ll be keeping a record to track my accuracy. This is good for you too, if it starts getting bad you know not to read anymore!
